Our programs exist to create safe spaces that allow Memphis Youth to discover their voice through the literary and performing arts and empower them to use their talents for social justice and positive change in their lives and communities.

Our vision is to transform the perception of Memphis by establishing a network of art-activists to create a youth-led movement that focuses on literacy, expresses through the arts, seeks social justice, teaches with experiential and service learning and forms positive relationships with God, self and the global community.

Click link above to register for the Meet and Greet/ Writing Workshop on March 26th at Douglass High School. Its FREE. Its a chance to meet the other poets prior to the slam. Network with other Youth Poets. Get tips on performance. Build confidence before the slam.  It's not about the competition. It's about the Poets!


Live Seed will host "meet & greet" workshop to prepare students for the Memphis / Shelby County Poetry Slam on March 28, 2019. This event will provide useful skills, as well as multiple ways to explore the craft of writing and performing poetry. The students' poetry is discussed in a safe workshop setting where students receive supportive feedback from their group leader and peers. In addition, students will receive training on voice projection, breath control, posture, and other performance techniques.

StoryBooth and Live Seed
StoryBooth and C.J. Evans, the executive director of Live Seed, discuss the student anthology project they produced with students of Northwest Preparatory Academy (Memphis TN).
What is StoryBooth?
is a space dedicated to helping young people in Memphis (aged 10-18) develop their own voices through creative and expository writing and other free project-based art workshops. StoryBooth is also the dedicated venue for all literary programming of Crosstown Arts and hopes increasingly to serve as a hub to foster community among writers in Memphis, and to make creative connections between readers and writers.
